Introduction
Receiving Clerk—Responsible for managing and verifying all incoming goods, ensuring accuracy, quality, and proper documentation. Duties include inspecting deliveries, updating inventory systems, reporting discrepancies, maintaining a safe and organized receiving area, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. Qualifications & Experience - Grade 12/Matric (minimum) - 1–2 years in receiving/warehouse/inventory (FMCG preferred) - SAPICS/APICS certifications (advantageous) Skills & Knowledge & Core Competencies - Receiving procedures, stock control, and ERP systems - MS Office; SAP and forklift license (preferred) - Knowledge of packaging, chemicals, and warehouse operations - Detail-oriented, reliable, physically fit - Strong communication, teamwork, and time management
Job description

The Receiving Clerk is responsible for the complete and accurate management of all incoming goods and deliveries. This role is crucial for ensuring that all received items are accurately accounted for, meet quality standards, and are properly documented and stored in alignment with company protocols.

Key Deliverables:

  • Receive and inspect incoming deliveries, meticulously cross-referencing against purchase orders and invoices.

  • Verify the quantity, quality, and condition of all items upon arrival.

  • Accurately document all delivery details and update inventory or ERP systems in a timely manner.

  • Promptly report any shortages, damages, or discrepancies to the appropriate department.

  • Ensure all received items are correctly labeled, packed, and stored.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized receiving area.

  • Coordinate effectively with suppliers, delivery drivers, and internal departments.

  • Assist with stock counts and inventory control as needed.

  • Adhere to all health, safety, and quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Qualification: Grade 12 or Matric.

  • Preferred Institutions: SAPICS, APICS certifications are a plus.

  • Experience: At least 1–2 years of experience in a receiving, warehouse, or inventory control role, preferably within the FMCG sector.

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of receiving procedures and stock control.

    • Basic computer literacy, including MS Office and inventory systems.

    • Forklift license (advantageous).

    • Proficiency in SAP (advantageous).

  • Knowledge:

    • Familiarity with packaging and chemical material handling.

    • Understanding of warehouse management principles and the FMCG industry.

  • Core Competencies:

    • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

    • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

    • Physical fitness to handle the lifting and moving of stock.

    • Demonstrates honesty, reliability, and strong organizational skills.
